ITINERARY
Day 1
Aim
to arrive at Combeleigh farm late morning to noon giving time to un-box
and settle horses. After a light lunch at the farm, tack-up and head
out for our first ride. On our return, after settling your horses
we will give a short demonstration on 2 or 3 basic but highly useful
flexibility techniques, after which we will transport you to the Wheddon
Cross and your accommodation. Here you will have time for a bath/shower
and change before we pick you up for an evening meal and glass of
wine back at Combeleigh. This will allow you to see how your horses
have settled into their lodgings before we convey you back to yours.
Day
2
We
will pick you up after you’ve breakfasted to re-unite you with
your horses. They will have been mucked- out, fed and watered so all
you will have to do is flick a brush over them and tack-up before
setting out for the day. After a full day while the horses settle,
a cup of tea for the riders before being shown relaxation points and
techniques to apply to your weary steeds. Back to your accommodation,
dinner will be taken at the Rest and Be Thankful Inn (not included
in the price). We will check your horses before we ourselves turn
in for the night, ensuring that you can rest easy.
Day
3
Breakfast
and book out of your rooms, we will then transport you and your luggage
back to the farm. After you have groomed you horses we will spend
a few minutes stretching before setting off for the final ride. On
return back to the stables light lunch while the horse cool down then
if time, a final practice on horse relaxation points before boxing
up and heading home after what we hope has been a very enjoyable and
informative break with you horse.
NB
This is a sample itinerary and is fairly fluid. We retain the right
to make changes depending on weather conditions and the ability of
the horses and riders. In must be noted that on some routes we will
be travelling along or crossing some minor roads and all riders will
be required to abide by road safety rules. Although not a regular
occurrence the air-force do on occasions use Dunkery and is surrounds
for practice flights we have no knowledge of the dates and times and
so feel that anyone considering joining us should be aware of this
fact.
For those of you who have partners who don’t
ride but wish to join you for the weekend, there are a multitude of
activities
locally which may interest them. Please check out ‘Everything
Exmoor’ on our links page for more information.
